Encounters have a very important place in the Emmaus Movement: they are at the same time what gave birth to it and what allows it to renew each day while staying true to its principles.
In 1949, the encounter between Abbé Pierre and Georges, a desperate man who became the first companion, gave birth to the movement and to its work alongside the ones who are most in need.
Today still, encounters of different sorts allow the actors of the Movement –whether they are companions, friends, volunteers, employees, etc- to exchange on various subjects of their interest and to strengthen the bonds that unite them.
In these pages you will find a few words and images of the encounters that are giving life to the European Region these days.
