Since 2007 Emmaus Europe has pledged to coordinate and develop European companion, leader and volunteer exchange programmes. Encouraging companion exchanges and further integrating them into the life of the movement was also the subject of a motion at the Regional Assembly of Emmaus Europe in 2009.
The European members of the World Council on Training and New Generations began by helping to organise meetings of community leaders. This year they are delighted to go one step further, working in partnership with Emmaus Europe to organise a European work camp for companions at Emmaus Feniks (the Netherlands) from 27 June – 11 July 2010.
One of the camp’s objectives is to renovate the community’s property, which used to be a Trappist monastery and dates back to the late 19th century.
The two-week camp will mix work and pleasure, as for the first time companions, leaders and friends from all over Europe will have the chance to meet, interact, live together and discover the group’s stunning home region.
The members of the World Council on Training and New Generations will also lead debates, in particular on sustainable development, which is a key issue for Emmaus Europe in 2010.
The Feniks work camp was a unique chance to interact, meet people, discuss and get to know each other…
