Campaign event for migration justice on 12-13 December 2017

Europe is the world’s most dangerous destination. Let’s change Europe!

The governments of the EU member states will meet in Brussels on 14-15 December. From one summit to the next, migration is on the agenda, without any coordinated solutions being identified at the European level or an appropriate response enabling the human tragedy occurring at the gates of Europe to be properly handled. Over 5,000 migrants perished when attempting to reach the coastline of Europe in 2016.

What if we restored a little justice and humanity to the situation? Asserting the struggle against global inequality and the importance of creating safe and legal access routes to Europe are serious ideas that many citizens and organisations are keen to champion. The 12 December citizens’ counter summit at De Markten cultural centre and the Kaaitheater performing arts centre in Brussels will seek to do just that. A day packed with workshops, debates and meetings, with the aim being to analyse the situation and also to put forward solutions to stop social dumping within Europe and create safe and legal migration routes.

The next day we are encouraging you to attend a big demonstration on the streets of Brussels. We will stand together under the banners of justice for migrants and social justice. We say “no” to isolationism, and “no” to unbridled globalisation!
