On the occasion of the European elections, which will take place on 23r and 26th May 2019, the European Anti-Poverty Network (EAPN) calls on all candidates to commit themselves to ensuring a social and sustainable Europe, without poverty. Supported by Emmaus Europe, this campaign consists in asking the candidates to the European elections to sign a statement in which they commit, during the next legislature, to take the necessary measures to eradicate poverty in the European Union:

  • Macroeconomic policies that promote human rights, fight against poverty and inequality, and ensure well-being
  • Social protection systems and a decent minimum income system guaranteeing a dignified life for all who need it, as long as they need it
  • Effective implementation of existing political commitments, including the Sustainable Development Goals and the European Pillar of Social Rights
  • Effective participatory processes that harness the expertise and know-how of all key actors, including people living in poverty and the organizations that represent them

If you are a candidate in the European elections, we invite you to show your support for the fight against poverty and your commitment to #EUPovertyFree by signing the declaration.
