Emmaus Krefeld, based in Germany, will host the next meeting of the Migration and Human Trafficking Collective on 24-25 June 2016. Open to all European Emmaus groups, this meeting is part of the continuing political lobbying and civil society campaign being conducted at the European level.
Faced with a Europe shaken to its core, incapable of moving beyond the bounds of national egoism, our discussion will focus on the following question:
“How can we preserve an unconditional welcome in societies that are growing more and more inward-looking?”
The aim is to demonstrate, via our groups’ experiences, that Emmaus creates alternative solutions to promote the inclusion of migrants while respecting their basic rights. In light of the successes and difficulties our groups have encountered, we will also seek to formally document proposals for a campaign to lobby political and civil society decision-makers.
When the concept of living together is in peril, it is up to Emmaus to point out the rich potential offered by the Together in Diversity principle!
