The History of Emmaus Europe

Emmaus Europe is a young organisation. Founded in 2005, it is however part of a process that began in November 1949, with the meeting of two people from different backgrounds who wanted to help those who suffer most.

The Emmaus Movement has grown over the past sixty years. It expanded worldwide to such an extent that it became essential to formally structure it.

Emmaus International was therefore created at the beginning of the 1970s. As of 2003 and the adoption of a decentralised management structure, four regions were created: Emmaus Africa, Emmaus America, Emmaus Asia and Emmaus Europe.
